Where to donate knit baby hats?

I have a lot of leftover yarn from making scarves and hats for my family and have decided that I am going to make baby hats from the leftover yarn for charity. I just do not know where to donate the hats. I have all different colors - black, grey, red, dark and light blue, neon green, pink, brown.... I was originally thinking to donate these hats to a hospital, but I don't know if they would really appreciate brightly colored and black hats. Would it be better if I donated them to a shelter and made some bigger sized hats for toddlers too? I live in Michigan if anyone could suggest somewhere for me to donate these to.
