Crochet Thread 10

what does size 10 yarn mean?
does it tell you what size crochet hook you use?

The higher the number in crochet thread, the thinner the thread is. Size 10 is a good size for bedspreads and tablecloths or for apparel. It takes a steel hook size 7 or 8.
