Knitting wool is created by first shearing the wool off the animal. There are different types of wool including lambs wool, sheep, alpaca, and llama wool. Shaving means the animal is shaved her back and collected to use for clothes, towels and other cloth items. Shearing does not hurt the animals and very hot regions should be done to keep the animal from overheating. This is where the use of animal hair was first seen. Once the hair is removed, washed before it can be spun. Before the days of running water, people would fill her pockets with porous and put the bags in rivers or creeks to get out all dirt and other particles who were left behind. This process is similar today, except that some people use their washing machines. The hair is washed in very hot water two or three times and then dried. Fine or dirty hair are closed. Wool hairs can be purchased in most craft stores or bought from farms. It's not her knitting wool. After the hair is dry, it will be be spun. Some people use spinners, which consist of a large wheel that powered the hair. Spinning is what makes the knitting yarn. Hairs are spun together to a rigid wire form. This yarn can then be used for knitting. If a person can not fit into a spinning wheel in their home, smaller hands spinning wheels used. These are the traditional spinning wheels two or three inches wide. Spinning the wheel is attached to a stick and adding it will start knitting wool make. This can be a difficult process but one that will be worth it. After knitting wool is spun, people will begin to knit, which is another process in which yarn woven to clothing and other substances that people use every day to create. Traditional knitting can take weeks or months to finish one or two items. Wool sweaters, blankets, shirts and other apparel made of wool will last a long time, because the wool is very strong material. Knitting wool is a renewable resource. Many will combine different types of wool to create mixtures may feel a little softer. These mixtures are also used to create different patterns. Dying the wool provides more color choices.
