Can you adapt a circular needle knitting patterns. . .?
knitting with two straight needles? I want a Halloween Devil Hat for my son, but the pattern is knit in the round. I've never had much luck with circular and find it really hard to get the right size - they always seem too long! Would it be possible this pattern to match on two straight knitting needles? What would you do? I am placing a link to the pattern so you can see how it is: http://www.kittyville.com/knit/devil_hat.html
Cast on 72 stabbing Work 1 "in garter stitch (knit every row) Switch to stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl the next) for 3.5". Place a stitch marker after every 10th stitch. Reduction Rows: (switch to double pointed if required) * 2 tog. For each marker, knit one row * 3 times, then k2 together before marker every round until only 7 stabbing on needle. Break yarn, leaving a fairly long tail. Pull the tail through remaining 7 sts, pull firmly, and pull through to the inside of the hat and sew the side. The rest of the pattern doesn't involve circular knitting machines. Ive made my friend the same as a Halloween / joke thing. She got the biggest kick out of it especially when I was a matching scarf of my own design.
