Spools Machine Embroidery

does it matter what type of spool embroidery thread is on? Does it depend on the embroidery machine?
I have a new Brother innovis 900d sewing machine that also does embroidery and I don't want to spend money on embroidery thread that my machine can't use.
I have read where one brand of embroidery machine, or another "likes" this or that brand of machine embroidery thread only.
What I have found is the really dark colors of Coats & Clark and Sulky tend to shred when you have a large area to embroider with that particular color.
Robison Anton and Maderia a excellant brands and you can find them on the Internet, sewing machine dealers and sewing expos. If there is going to be an expo in your area, attend and you will find the merchants will have special prices on many supplies and equipment.
Isacord and Metro are another brands that are often spoken of, but I have never used either brand to any extent.
You can buy Sulky and C & C at JoAnn Fabrics and Mettler at Hancock fabrics.
Buy only the colors you need as kits sometimes leave you will a lot of colors that you will not use.
For items that may be washed with chlorine bleach added to the water, use polyester machine embroidery thread as the standard rayon will run and fade.
