Why I will vote for John Kerry for President

The fact is that today’s “Republican Party” is one with which I am totally unfamiliar. To me, the word “Republican” has always been synonymous with the word “responsibility”, which has meant limiting our governmental obligations to those we can afford in human and financial terms. Today’s whopping budget deficit of some $440 billion does not meet that criterion.

This is an interesting article written by a Republican, and the son of Republican President, Dwight D. Eisenhower. He talks about why the current “Republican” party (aka neo-cons?) is not really even really republican.

Last night on C-Span I watched this discussion/debate between Al Gore and Bob Dole. I have to say that while I totally disagree with everything Dole said, I really respect him. He can have a political discussion with another democrat without any sarcasim, backbiting, or arrogance. And Al Gore was the same way. It was amazing to watch. You could tell that these men actually liked each other. Dole even stuck up for Gore when an audience member used his time to ask a quesiton to attack Gore. It was really refresing to see this kind of behavior out of two politicians. After four years of the Bush administration I was starting feel a lot of negativity toward Rebublicans, but I don’t think it’s the republicans that I should be negative toward. I think that true republicans are just as sick of Bush as liberals are. He isn’t even representing them.
