Making Wooden Knitting Needles
Posted in Sewing on 01/17/2004 09:03 am by admin
Having a problem with one part of the knitting process....?
Ok I am a new knitter (I just learned yesterday) and today I have been doing it all on my own but each time I get to this one process I get stuck...
Ok what happens is (I do purling) and I do all that jazz, but when it comes time to pull the loop off the needle in my left hand its SUPER hard to get off....
Is there a way I can make it easier to just slide right off?
I am using a wooden needle BTW....Is it the needle? Do I need to buy new needles? Or is it something I am doing?
I am only trying to make a scarf since I lack the skill to make anything else right now...
Thanks.
I like the aluminum needles best of all. Stitches do slip off more easily. I think you are likely just holding on too tightly to your working yarn, the one you are knitting with, wrapping around the needle.
That will make for a really tight stitch and it will be so hard to get the needle underneath it to knit it on the next row.
Try relaxing and holding the working yarn a little looser, and see if that helps you.
