How do you make a "bouclette" stitch?
I love this bouclette-knit sweater by Sonia Rykiel.

Does anyone know if this is a type of knit stitch, or something more complicated that can only be accomplished with a machine, or a specialty yarn?

I could be wrong, but judging by the cast-on edge and the appearance of the stitches, I'd say the sweater is machine knit in ribbing with a second yarn woven into the stitches (knit weaving) on the main bed.
