do you have to use stitch markers?
I am going to knit a baby blanket, do i have to use stitch markers?
and does anybody have a really easy pattern?
Try just a simple loop of contrasting yarn or embroidery thread that you pass from one needle to the next as you're knitting. Cheap & easy.
Do you have to use stitch markers? No. Are some things easier with? Yes.
One of my favorite mindless patterns to use for something like this is to pick a stitch pattern that's easy to remember... like k3p3. Cast on one less stitch than a multiple of the pattern, and just keep knitting that same pattern, don't start over from the beginning of the pattern at a new row. So let's say I'm going to two repeats of k3p3:
kkkpppkkkpp (now turn your knitting and resume:
pkkkpppkkkp (now turn your knitting and resume:)
ppkkkpppkkk etc.
This almost always works out to be a pleasing pattern, no matter what you pick as your repeat. Try a small swatch and see if you like it.
