Quilting/sewing: How do I transfer the design of 8" large letters of the alphabet to a print fabric?
I've never done applique. I want to put four large initials -about 6" X 8" each in the center of a quilt/throw backing. I have each letter design on 8 x 10 paper but I don't know how to transfer the shapes to fabric which will be cut out and attached to the backing with Wonderunder and then machine embroidered around the edges. Is there something one does with freezer paper to transfer a design to fabric? Thanks one and all.
The Heat and Bond works great and for a beginner better than the freezer paper.
I use the word processing program with all the different fonts available, or write in cursive with an ultra wide felt marker. I then take a Sharpie pen and clean up the edges.
Rather than make the "design"/letters/signature/whatever in reverse I use a light table or a glass coffee table with the desk light underneath and trace the design through the Heat and Bond. There are directions on the product also.
