crocheted afghan patterns?
Sometime in the early to mid 1970s I bought a "Learn to Crochet" book that featured a granny square afghan that was crocheted in one piece, each square connected to the next as they were crocheted. I have lost this booklet and I would very much like to find a copy of it, or a similar, easy-to-crochet pattern. If anyone knows where I can buy it, please let me know.
Sure, I can tell you how to do it. But I can't find the link right now.
When making your granny square do a ch 1 between the dc clusters and ch 3 in the corners. When you get to the size square you want, fasten off.Do a second square. And when you get to the last round join 2nd square to first square like this:
Crochet to the corner, ch 1 join to corner of first square with a sl st, * do a dc cluster in second square, then instead of doing a ch 1, sl st into the next ch 1 sp of the first square, rep * to next corner, join corner as before. Finish 2nd square round.
That's how you do it.
Oh let me tell you another hint, that no one else will ever tell you. To make your squares squarer do the corner like this. 2dc,1tc,ch 3,1tc,2dc,in ch 3 (corner) space.
