Obsession

Loll BackI finished the back of Loll and am now working on the left front. I have noticed that I am not doing the waist shaping correctly and it’s irritating the hell out of me. In the picture the ribbing all comes together at the waist shaping. You can see how it’s supposed to go here at High Energy Knits. I knitted the waist shaping the way I interpreted the pattern. And it’s wrong. I thought about frogging and re-knitting. At least the left front panel. But fuck it. I’m so not in the mood to do that. Let’s just chalk it up to bad-reading-of-directions and leave it at that. I will try to be more careful next time.

Lotus Blossom TankSo the Lotus Blossom Tank. . . Right after I finished my last post on that the mailman came and delivered my two balls of Bamboo Yarn. It seriously came to my front door in a flash! Kpixie rocks! The new yarn is actually a bit different from the old yarn. It most definately is the same brand and colorway. But the new yarn is much softer and the colors are brighter. I decided to start over and knit the tank using both balls of yarn, alternating each row. I got through two repeats and took a good look at it. I’m not so sure I like the way the colors together are knitting up. I really don’t want to start over AGAIN. So I am putting this aside for a bit to decide what to do. I may change my mind about it.

And finally I’m totally obsessing over this book. Knitted Babes. The copy in the picture I linked to is the library’s copy. Everytime I see it I check it out and fawn over the cute dolls. I even had dreams about them last night. I think I need to make one of these.

Blue Fringe

Alien Fringe

Sachi requested a closeup of the fringe. There you go, Sachi! It looks kind of alien-like, don’t you think? But you can see how it would take forever to knit. Every two knits you have to fringe which takes 6 stithces. So you are knitting a hella lot of stitches when all is said and done. Right now I’m working on the arm-hole shaping. I got kind of sidetracked.

Lotus blossom tankAfter seeing Jennifer’s beautiful Lotus Blossom tank I decided I had to have one too. Isn’t hers pretty? I looked at the pattern and noticed that it called for Southwest Trading Company’s Bamboo yarn. Hmm. That got me thinking a bit. The yarn that I knitted this little bag in was, indeed, bamboo. And it looks awfully similar to this color. I had quite a bit of that ball left over so I decided to “experiment” and cast on. I had to frog at one point because I screwed up the pattern, but the second time around I feel the zen of the pattern and it’s knitting up without a hitch. I went ahead and threw caution to the wind and ordered two balls of the SWTC yarn in the color Parrot, which I think is the same color. I know that the dye lot will be different, and, hell, it might not even be the same yarn. But I don’t care. I ordered two balls so that should be enough start over and knit the small if need be. I’m definately NOT in any way shape or form a size small, but thought that I would try the negative ease thing. It looks rather roomy on the model. We’ll see. Here’s a close-up of the lace pattern. I don’t know. maybe I just need to knit lace right now.
