I haven’t updated this blog in awhile. Sorry about that. My lame excuse is that my camera ran out of batteries last weekend and I keep forgettting to buy some. So I thought I would post a little update on my crafty happenings.
- I got the book Sew What! Skirts in tje mail today form Amazon. I am so stoked! The book tells you how to draft your own skirt patterns based on your very own measurements. Then it gives directions for 16 basic skirt designs from easiest to hardest. But they all look pretty easy. I can’t wait to find some fun fabric and make something from it!
- I decided to knit up the Sunrise Circle Jacket on size three needles. I know. I’m totally insane for doing it. And would you believe this, it’s still measuring out about an inch too big! I don’t know what the deal is with my knitting but something is seriously wrong if I’m knitting that loosely. But anyway, 1 inch too big will be okay for me because I’m kind of in between sizes so I think it will work. At least I hope so. Annelis mentioned in my last post that it’s hard to knit when it’s knitted on smaller needles and, oh boy, is it ever. I think I’m going to develop Carpel Tunnel Syndrome knitting this thing.
- I had a dream last weekend about quilting. I haven’t done anything with my Tuscan Sun quilt since the last time I posted on it. However, thanks to Esther’s tip, I do have a Setting Kit for it now! I scored on Ebay. Yay!
- I have worn Loll several times and I love this sweater. I have gotten numerous compliments on it.
That is all. Take care and happy Friday!

Here is a hank of silk yarn that I spun from those silk hankies that I had in my stash forever. I didn’t ply because I didn’t get much out of it as it is. I think I will knit up a lacy little scarf. Not the most perfect spinning in the world, but I like it nonetheless. I set the twist the same way that I do wool. By soaking in hot water for a good hour or so. I don’t know if I should have done that with silk. It seems to kind of be okay. It already had kind of a rough look to begin with. I highly recommend spinning silk hankies if you ever get a chance. It’s really quite a lovely experience.
Pomatomus is no more. For more detail read this post. I had a knitting tantrum and Pomatomus has been destroyed. And I never want to ever look at that effing pattern again.
I started on the Sunrise Circle Jacket and am about to have another knitting tantrum. I’m using Rowan Summer Tweed which has the same gauge as the yarn used in the pattern. I’m usually a loose knitter so it’s no surprise that I’m not getting gauge. However, to get gauge I have to go down to a SIZE 3 needle. It’s supposed to be knit on size 7s. How is this possible? Ugh. Knitting is not my friend lately. Maybe I will go back to spinning. Nice, relaxing spinning.

I finished knitting and seaming Loll! I can’t tell you how happy I am to finish this sweater. It was really quite challenging. But so worth it! I love the way it has turned out! It fits perfectly. And Calmer feels so god damn good against the skin. It makes me want to go cast on for Audrey right away. Why did I ever wait to knit this? It is snuggly and cozy and comfy!
Okay, I am going to have to take it off so I can wash and block it. After six months of knitting and then sitting around in my bag its a little dusty. Official “finished” shots coming soon.

I just now, just a few minutes ago, finished knitting the second Loll sleeve. I’m giddy with anticipation! I can’t wait to get this sweater done. Finally! Now I’m off to seam the shoulders and knit the collar.

I wanted to give you a quickie update on Loll. Regardless of what you see there in the previous post, I am still a-knittin away. I have been doing some serious knitting on my first Loll sleeve. As I type this I am way past what you see in the picture. I am now on the sleeve cap shaping!
The other really cool thing about this knit is that It’s blue! why is that so special? Because February is the kickoff for Project Spectrum 2.0 and blue is the first color! so I’m ahead of the game, baby. And since I started this durning the blue month of Project Spectrum 1.0 it’s oh so very apropos.
So what other things do I have planned for the Blue Months you ask? Maybe I should take a picture of the yarn for these projects. I definately think I am going to knit up some socks. I am waay overdue for some socks and I have a hank of STR in my stash that needs to be fondled.
I also am planning to knit the Sunrise Circle Jacket. I bought some Rowan Summer Tweed in the Shark colorway, so I think I will work on that, as well.
But I will post more on that later.
