Here’s Leonora! As I mentioned, extremely easy knit. I probably didn’t need the pattern book for it, but whatever. It turned out cute, I think. I shipped it on it’s way this morning to my stepmom. Hope she likes it!
In addition to casting on for FBS over the weekend, I also casted on the last sleeve of the Lucky Clover wrap. I’ve made a pretty good start, too. The guilt was too much. I couldn’t let this sit any longer.
I’m making good progress on FBS. I’ve made it to repeat 5 of the lower flower basket chart with no major issues. There are some, but not enough to make me want to pull my hair out. This is my first real lace project, and I have to say, it’s not all that bad - so far. (knock on wood and all that). I will take pictures and post them later this week. I also have some other fun yarn and pattern aquisitions to show you, too, so stay tuned….
My bag passed the “take all of your crap to work” test. I was able to fit my lunch and my digital camera with it’s cables in there! I am so loving it. I also took it hiking with me over the weekend, as well. I liked how it didn’t bounce around while I was walking.
I’m starting to feel very sad about leaving Santa Cruz. I didn’t think I would feel this way, but it’s all kind of hitting me as I pack up my life. I even cried on my way to work this morning
. I’m getting teary-eyed just thinking about it. I’m going to miss the beach and my hikes in the Redwood forest. sigh.
Well, better get some work done. Have a wonderful Monday, everyone!

Finally! I finished a sleeve! The end is in sight! well, I should wait and say that when I’ve finished the other sleeve. Becuase after that I still have to knit a long-ass wrappy band. When I get to that then I know I will be almost done. It does feel good to have the sleeve done, though.
In the meantime, I knitted a bit on my afghan today. Here’s a pic of it. I think this is almost done, too. I cut the fringe for it today and tried to apply it to one end, but soon realized that my crochet hook is way too small. I think I like this afghan. The colors, I mean. At first I wasn’t sure if it was hideous or pretty. At the moment I think it’s pretty. I’m not extremelly fond of knitting with this recycled silk. It has an awful musty smell that needs to go away. I put a Trader Joes Lavender dryer packet thingy in with my yarn, so hopefully that will help take the musty scent away. Another thing I dislike about this yarn is the debris that is tangled in with it. I’ve found all kinds of things spun up with it. Metals, woody material, and today I think I might have found a fingernail. Seriously. It might be my paranoid mind playing tricks on me, but it kind of looked like a fingernail. yuck.
Oh, and I got a good start on the vintage cami this weekend, too! this will be a good “at work” project. It’s knitted in the round so it seems like endless stockinette, which is perfect for reading e-mail and blogs and whatnot.
Better jet. gotta go make dinner. Tortilla soup! yum!

Because this baby’s going fast! The cotton was calling to me, so I started on my Chevron Rib Tank. Here’s the back. I am loving this stitch pattern! And this Blue Sky Cotton? It’s abso-friggen-lutely divine! I am so glad I am using it for this project! sooo soft. My progress on it will probably slow down because tommorrow’s Monday and you know how the ‘ole job gets in the way of the knitting. Damn job.
I’ve also been working a little bit on Lucky Clover. She’s not being neglected. Knitting this is hurting my fingers, though. Seriously, Friday night, after knitting it for a little while, I had a sharp, shooting pain in my pinky and it felt numb. I think I’m knitting a little bit too tightly or something. I need to chill out, I guess. That’s why I picked up the Chevron Tank. The color of the yarn is so soothing, not to mention the softness of the cotton.
Gotta jet. Need to make dinner. Later.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mothers out there!
For my mom and my MIL I knitted up this little scarf that you see here out of the Crystal Palace Party yarn that I got on Tuesday. Since this is technically an FO, I will go ahead and give the specs and put it in my FO gallery. Gotta chalk it up doncha know.
Pattern: Party Scarf, available for free at Straw into Gold.
Yarn: Crystal Palace Party in Fall Herbs. 1 skien.
Needles: Clover bamboo size 13.
Finished: May 7th, 2005. (this took about an hour or two to knit).
Here is a closeup.
Very quick and easy pattern. I was able to knit up my Mom’s and have it in the mail by Thursday. I really like this yarn, too. It’s a very nice ribbon yarn. It would make a nice tank top.
I finished a few things this weekend. As you can see here I also finished the back of my Chai pullover. This was my “at work” knit this week and I got a lot of it done while doing my e-mail reading, waiting for web pages to load, etc. It’s amazing how much knitting you can accomplish while waiting for various things. I’ve also taken lately to knitting while waiting at long stoplights, too. Or waiting at the metering lights to get on the freeway.
I love knitting with this yarn. It knits up into a very lightwieght fabric. It’s going to be a nice springy top when I’m done with it.
And, finally, I finished the left front of Lucky Clover. I so wanted to get this done so I spent hours and hours yesterday morning finishing this up. I seemed like it took forever, but I finished it and it’s blocking now. When I finished it I started to panic a little when I looked at the schematic. My front looks nothing like the front in the schematic. Well, it looks a little bit like it, but it seems really long…So now I’m worried that I did this all wrong. But I am soooo not going to reknit this thing. I am going to finish it as I am supposed to and have faith that I am doing everything right. This is turning out to be a very challenging knit, I think. There really is just so much that you have to keep track of so you really have to pay attention to what you are doing. It’s easy to get lost. I think the sleeves will be a bit easier since there is very little shaping. Thank God. I will be glad to have this finished. It’s not that I’m not enjoying it or anything, though.
Well, I gotta jet. I have a lot of stuff to do today since I spent so much time yesterday finishing lucky clover’s back.

I knitted and knitted and knitted this weekend. I worked on everything a little bit.
I told you that I casted on the Chai pullover on Friday. This is how far I have gotten over the weekend. I’m just starting the increases. I love this yarn. It’s a dream to knit with. So soft and silky. I can’t wait to wear this sweater.
I’ve also been working on my recycled silk afghan. I’m about halfway done and I’ve knitted through all of the recycled silk that I have. So Earl has been reincarnated as my recycled silk throw. I’ve combined it with various balls of leftover mohair. First I used what was left of the Wool in the Woods mohair I usded on To Dye For. Then I used some really fuzzy mohair that I used on my blue cardi, and then I added the light blue mohair that I bought at Comunknity friday. I’m taking a break on this until the silk that I ordered from The Wool Peddler has arrived. I’m still not sure if this is pretty or hideous. Maybe recycled silk is one of those fads that seems really gorgeous at the time, but in twenty years it will show up on Stitchy McYarnpant’s museum of kitsy stitches
. Regardless of how it looks, it is sooooo soft and cuddly. And I suppose that’s all that matters.
I worked a couple more lace repeats on Lucky Clover this weekend, too. And I have a picture to prove it! I almost forgot where I was on this because I had set it aside for so long. I will kind of be glad to get this sweater done. Mostly because it’s cute and I’m dying to wear it. But it’s also kind of annoying me because there is so much to keep track of. I think if I work on it a little bit every day it will help, though. No more putting it aside.
So all weekend I’ve been obsessing over a couple of projects. I’m dying to knit the Chevron Rib Tank from IK, and I’m also kind of obsessing over the Sheer One Piece Shawl from ArtYarns (knit in that pink and green supermerino that I got friday). I know I shouldn’t buy more yarn. I really can’t. I’ve firmly decided NOT to use my credit cards so that I can pay them off, AND I’m trying to save some money. But I really, really want to make these things, see? (I know you have ALL been there). So this morning I talked myself into buying them. I just said, “fuck it. why not?” so I went to Webs first to buy the supermerino and pattern for the shawl. I had the stuff in my shopping cart, had put in my shipping address, was getting ready to type my credit card number in when my lovely husband gets up from his computer and begins walking over to me, talking to me about linux or something that I don’t understand…He bends down to give me a hug and, while it’s very sweet, all I could think was, “crap! he’s going to see my computer screen and credit card sitting in plain view!” And he did. He ended up talking me out of it, of course. drats. I felt so guilty, like I was caught falling off the wagon or something. Damn, maybe I was…
