I finished knitting and seaming Loll! I can’t tell you how happy I am to finish this sweater. It was really quite challenging. But so worth it! I love the way it has turned out! It fits perfectly. And Calmer feels so god damn good against the skin. It makes me want to go cast on for Audrey right away. Why did I ever wait to knit this? It is snuggly and cozy and comfy!
Okay, I am going to have to take it off so I can wash and block it. After six months of knitting and then sitting around in my bag its a little dusty. Official “finished” shots coming soon.

I just now, just a few minutes ago, finished knitting the second Loll sleeve. I’m giddy with anticipation! I can’t wait to get this sweater done. Finally! Now I’m off to seam the shoulders and knit the collar.

I wanted to give you a quickie update on Loll. Regardless of what you see there in the previous post, I am still a-knittin away. I have been doing some serious knitting on my first Loll sleeve. As I type this I am way past what you see in the picture. I am now on the sleeve cap shaping!
The other really cool thing about this knit is that It’s blue! why is that so special? Because February is the kickoff for Project Spectrum 2.0 and blue is the first color! so I’m ahead of the game, baby. And since I started this durning the blue month of Project Spectrum 1.0 it’s oh so very apropos.
So what other things do I have planned for the Blue Months you ask? Maybe I should take a picture of the yarn for these projects. I definately think I am going to knit up some socks. I am waay overdue for some socks and I have a hank of STR in my stash that needs to be fondled.
I also am planning to knit the Sunrise Circle Jacket. I bought some Rowan Summer Tweed in the Shark colorway, so I think I will work on that, as well.
But I will post more on that later.

Oh my. Why, look what ended up in my basket while I was at JoAnn’s today. It’s a kit for a quilt square. Hmm. I wonder how I ended up with that?
But seriously… I have been thinking a lot about quilting lately. It kind of creeped in there slowly. A few months ago I really never had any desire whatsoever to quilt. But little seedlings have been planted the past few months that have taken root. First, there has been Nancy. She has been showing us her quilts for awhile. And, of course, they are gorgeous. Dianne also does incredible work. I have been admiring these women but never thought I would want to follow down this path. And then Heidi has been posting the squares for her Dear Jane quilt. I got curious one day and, being a librarian, searched the internet for Dear Jane quilts. Oh. My. God. Look at that gorgeous quilt! So I started checking out books from the library. Just to look. I checked out a Kaffe Fasset book. I checked out a begining quilting book. Just to look. All the while I have this schizo voice in my head telling me, “No! Don’t do it! it’s too much work. you don’t want to start ANOTHER money eating craft do you?!?” But still I keep looking. Then Amanda posted pictures of her quilt. Amazingly gorgeous! I don’t know how she gave it up when she finished it
. So all of this adds up to that little kit you see there in the picture. I think this is a good way to start. We will see how I like it.
So, if I were to quilt I would like to handquilt. I love the old-fashionedness of it. My great grandmother handquilted and her workmanship was phenominal. In my family we still use the quilts she hand made to this very day. Maybe I want to do this to honor her memory. I don’t know. But quilting is calling me.
Here is something that I finished over the weekend:

Two more squares of my Learn to Knit Afghan. Speaking of which, I created a little page dedicated to it. Each time I finish a square I will place it in it’s appropriate place on the table. This will help me keep track of what I have done. My goal is to get this done in 2007. I don’t think I will be able to stand working on it exclusively until it is finished. But I will try to knock out a few squares here and there in between projects.
Oh, and look who came out of the closet:

It’s Loll! I’m working on the first sleeve’s fringe.
One more thing, I updated my “About” page with my knitting story if you are extremely bored and wish to learn about how I came to become a knitter.
Happy Monday!

Okay. I’m kind of embarrased to show you this. But I’m going to anyway. Because I’m so proud of it! It’s my very first hank of my very own handspun yarn guys! I even plied it and everything!
So I spun up some of that pretty merino roving that I showed you in my last post. Then I spun up all of the bits of fiber that I had lying round onto the other drop spindle that I have. My teacher gave us bits of wool, angora, and silk to play with. I also had some green wool that somebody else gave me two years ago. I think there was also camel among the fibers that I had. I also spun up some dog hair. Yes, you heard me right. I have a box of dog hair that I have been moving around with me for two or three years. It is from my friend, Gail’s dogs. She started saving her dog hair when she went to a dog show and saw some handspun yarn from various dog breeds. She gave it to me three years ago when I told her I wanted to learn how to spin yarn. I’m finally getting around to spinning it. Here are a couple of balls that I have spun up:

I am going to ply it with wool. In fact, after I post this I’m going to a fiber store here in Spokane called Paradise Fibers to buy some cream colored wool to spin up and ply with this. As you can tell, the dog hair is very fuzzy. It looks and feels very much like Angora. I read somewhere that plying it with wool is good so that the finished product isn’t super hot.
In a few days I will show you what I’m doing for Socktoberfest! For now, I will leave you with my finished Loll back. I wanted to at least finish the back of her before she gets tucked away again while I work on socks and gifts for Christmas.
