Newsy post

I’ve got lots to share, today! I was busy this weekend…

First of all, I fringed the poncho. Here is what it looks like in it’s final state:

I think it turned out okay….The neck is really stretched out, though. But, all in all, not bad. Wearable. I think it would be really cute if there were beads on the fringe. Maybe if I am really bored one day I will do that.

Second, I finished another square of the Learn to Knit Afghan. I’m working on the Lace section and finished the first square:

As you can tell, I didn’t figure out the whole concept of lace until I was nearly finished. You actually WANT to make the holes.

Third, I knitted my mom a bucket hat in this gorgeous red color. I used GGH Samoa this time. I really love that yarn:

Mom, if you are reading this, let me know if you like this color…I still have to block it.

Poncho Done

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. I’ve been busy in an alternate universe fighting neo-cons ;) .

I actually have lots of knitting news. First of all, the Poncho is (finally) done. Yeah! Here’s a pic of it blocking:

Blocking

When I finished knitting it I was disappointed. But it truly is amazing what blocking can do. It finished blocking last night and I tried it on again and it looks nice! I am definately going to fringe it and will post another pic when it is fringed.

Second, I finished another square of my afghan:

Again, it is a light rose colored yarn. It is knitted with Lion’s wool-ease. There is a whole section in the “learn-to-knit afghan” book on lace. So I am going to work through the lace squares next to practice my lace knitting in preparation for my lace shawl.

Still working on the Poncho :(

I casted off on the Poncho last night and tried it on. It was WAY too short. The long, pointy ends were about waist length on me but the straight edge came to my navel. Soo I put it back on the old needles and kept going at it. I still have two balls of this yarn left so I think I will be okay. I may not be able to fringe it, though. We’ll see.

I got up this morning at 6:30 am and started watching the DMC speeches on C-span, and, of course, knitted my way through several of them. I was so inspired, watching them. I am so pround to be a liberal. I sat and knitted and had tears in my eyes because, for the first time in four years, I have hope that our country is moving in a direction that good for ALL Americans, not just the rich and powerful. I have another blog, Blatherskite, in which I post most of my opinions on politics (among other things). Black Sheep is my happy place, so I try to leave politics out of this blog, since the political climate right now is so unhappy. But what the heck.

Almost done!

I am almost ready to cast off on my creamsicle poncho. Probably will do so tonight. Maybe I will actually get this thing done this weekend! It looks like hell right now. It went with me on my trip to Spokane. It kind of smells like cigarette smoke, for some reason. Poor thing.

Another next project

Well, I just ordered yarn for another project I’ll start as soon as I’m done with my friggen poncho. I want to knit “tank girl’ in Stitch-n-bitch. So I just today ordered some GGH Goa yarn in rose.

I’m pretty close to finished on the poncho. At least the knitting part. I have an inch or two left. I’ve been knitting until my wrists cramp! I want get this thing done. I think this will be my last project on smaller needles in a long time.
