Pinwheel Baby Blankie

Pinwheel baby blanketI finished the Pinwheel Baby Blankie that I was making for my brother in law and his wife. It went kind of fast and seems like a bit of a stealth knit. But here are the specs:
Pattern: Pinwheel Baby Blanket. Designed by Genia Planck. The ruffle idea and instructions came from Hello Yarn’s website.
Yarn: Plymouth Encore Colorspun Worsted in the Candy Cane colorway. I think I used 3 balls.
Needles: size 8 Denise. These were nice to use since I needed to continually increase the length of the cable as the blanket increased in size.
Started: November 27th 2006
Finished: December 30th, 2006

My last F.O. of 2006! I finished the knitting on this on the 30th and was lazy about blocking it. I really like how the self-striping turned out on this blanket. And I really like the ruffle, also. I saw a few of them on the internets and knew I needed to do this also. This was a really easy and quick knit. It really only took a few days. I put it aside for a long time to finish up Christmas knitting. Once I picked it up again after Christmas it went by very fast. It ended up about 37″ wide. It doesn’t seem like it’s very big and if I had more yarn I would have made it a bit bigger. But I really didn’t want to go out and buy more yarn for this project. And I think it will be fine for a baby. It’s a nice relaxing knit. Stockinette all the way. With a bit of increasing thrown in there for good measure.

Pinwheel

Pinwheel Baby BlankieI started a Pinwheel Baby Blanket for my Husband’s Brother and his wife who are having a baby. Due sometime in the next few days, I am told. I thought it was due in January. But no. It’s due at the end of November. Yikes. Definately not going to be done in the next few days.

I’m knitting it with Plymouth Encore Colorspun worsted yarn. Half Acrylic and Half wool. Washible and dryable. Which is good for babies, I would imagine. I am using the exact same yarn that I used for this baby blanket. The recient of that one, another niece on my husbands side, is now a little over a year old and she LOVES it. It’s her blankie. That makes me so happy. Something I knit for her is her beloved blankie. It’s the highest compliment for a knitter, I think.
