I finished all of the knitting on Rusted Root yesterday. Then I promptly tried it on (and took a picture). It fits! i really like the way it fits, in fact. And I love the fabric of the bamboo yarn. As I said, it’s going to be a really nice summer top. Nice and light and airy. Yay! I will wear it this week and take an official “finshed” picture. Stay tuned for that.
In other knitting news, I’ve been knitting away on the Striped Border Scarf from Victorian Lace Today. Incidentally, I had to start the whole thing over last week, after I posted my picture. Instead of doing a “crochet cast-on” I did a “provisional cast-on”. duh. So I decided to take out the yarn when I started on the center part of the shawl and I realized that I had live stitches on the end of my border. It worked out okay. The border just took a few hourst to knit. So I was was back on track in no time.

I wanted to give you a quickie update on Loll. Regardless of what you see there in the previous post, I am still a-knittin away. I have been doing some serious knitting on my first Loll sleeve. As I type this I am way past what you see in the picture. I am now on the sleeve cap shaping!
The other really cool thing about this knit is that It’s blue! why is that so special? Because February is the kickoff for Project Spectrum 2.0 and blue is the first color! so I’m ahead of the game, baby. And since I started this durning the blue month of Project Spectrum 1.0 it’s oh so very apropos.
So what other things do I have planned for the Blue Months you ask? Maybe I should take a picture of the yarn for these projects. I definately think I am going to knit up some socks. I am waay overdue for some socks and I have a hank of STR in my stash that needs to be fondled.
I also am planning to knit the Sunrise Circle Jacket. I bought some Rowan Summer Tweed in the Shark colorway, so I think I will work on that, as well.
But I will post more on that later.

Melissa was right, I did finish Butterfly over my vacation. It took about eight hours each way of driving to the coast and I made myself knit the whole way. I also knit quite a lot while we were camping. We had a fantastic time, by the way! Pictures are on my Flickr page if you would like to see them. I wish I was still there. sigh. Since I’ve been back I’ve been thinking about how I can open a yarn store in Long Beach. I miss the ocean!
Anyway. Back to Butterfly. Here she is draped over my old rocking chair in it’s pre-blocking state. It needs some serious blocking, doesn’t it? That collar is totally out of control. I will have an official finished shot for you later this week or next weekend. It’s still hot here in Spokane and I’m not so sure I want to put it on in 95 degree heat (did I say I miss the ocean and it’s mild temperatures? I did? oh. okay.).
So Project Spectrum is over. Since everyone else is doing it I am going to totally jump on the bandwagon and do a collage of my PS photos over the months. Sans knitting and coloring projects.

Okay. That took forever and I messed it up! grrr.
Have a good day!

I finished these on Thursday night. Weaved in the last end and ceremoniously put them on my feet. I turned to my husband and asked, “Like my new socks?” His response was, “Did you buy those?” I said, “No. I’ve been sitting here working on them for the past two weeks.” He couldn’t believe that I knitted them.
Here are the specs:
Pattern: “Evening stockings for a young lady.” From the book, Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush.
Yarn: Knitpicks Essential. About two and a half balls.
Needles: Clover size 1 bamboo dpns.
Started: August 1st, 2006
Finished: August 17th, 2006
I really enjoyed knitting these socks. I almost suffered from 2nd sock syndrome but cast on for sock #2 before I could really even think about it. That cured The Dreaded Syndrome. I love “Knitting Vintage Socks.” I almost can’t wait to start on another pattern from the book. But I think I will wait until Socktoberfest since I’ve got lots of other things to finish up.
Like this:

I had tucked this disaster in the closet and forgotten about it. When I looked in there for some yarn I saw it and realized that this was, indeed, a neutral project. So what the hell. I thought I’d finish it up for August.
Yes, I have frogged and restarted. I was going to try knitting it as a seamless sweater but as I thought about what the hell I was going to do about the arms I realized I should just start over and follow the directions. I’m not skilled enough yet to figure this shit out on my own.
So there you go. Happy Monday.
