I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted! I had a plan to take some pictures of my Victoran Lace Scarves that I have finished but I don’t know if that’s going to happen. Why you ask? It’s because of 1) This:

Ravelry! It’s the best thing ever for knitters. Boiled down, its a social networking site for the knitting community. Don’t you think it’s about time we had our very own? Not that the entire web doesn’t work for us, but Ravelry is perfect for us knitters. Not only can you connect with others with your interests in the knitting community but you can use it as a place to store all of your project info, your stash info, you knitting book library. The librarian in me is overjoyed! I love it! So go join up! And then add me to your friend list!
I think at this point they are inviting people on an e-mail list. So to sign up you have to give them your e-mail and then they will send you an invite.
2) I’m on vacation this week but I am having company over. My inlaws will be here sometime today so I am going to be very busy. In fact, I should be cleaning my house right now.
On that note, I better take off. Hope you all are doing well. See you soon!

After taking a couple of months off from posting here at Blacksheep I think I have decided to start re-posting here again. Taking a couple of months off has really helped me gain some much needed perspective on why I started a knitting blog in the first place. I started BlackSheep because I wanted a place to organize my knitting projects and thoughts. Last year I kind of let everything fall by the wayside and I really didn’t do a very good job of updating. But things are going to be different now!
Here are some knitting goals for 2007:
- Finish up all of the W.I.Ps that have been gathering dust. The first thing I am going to finish is the Slytherin Scarf for my poor hubby. Then I will finish Loll. Then I will finish the Learn to Knit Afghan. I’m sick of having these things linger over my head. It’s time to get this shit DONE.
- I want to make the goal that I’m not going to buy yarn. But I don’t know if I can go that far. I think that what I want to do is use yarn from my stash as much as possible. I have yarn for several projectst that I want to use up before I rush out and buy more. This year I will decrease my stash.
I have to say, I really dislike having a yarn stash. I know I’m going to sound crazy. But it kind of stresses me out. I feel like I have things hanging over my head that I have to get done when I have a stash and that makes me stressed. So this year I will dig into the stash.
- Keep this blog and website organized. Use it for it’s intended purpose. I have placed a list in the sidebar of what I am currently working on and what I plan to do. I also updated the Gallery. I tried to put most of the major projects from 2006. I really wasn’t as productive as I was in 2005!
So thanks to all of you for sticking with me
. Happy 2007!

Last night my mom and I attended First Friday, which has kind of been a tradition for us since I moved here a little over a year ago.
Does your town do First Friday? It’s actually kind of cool. The first Friday of every month the galleries Downtown stay open until 8:00 and invite people to tour the galleries.
So my mom and I were wandering around, admiring the art, when I happened upon what looked like my hideous Knitpicks socks! I had to do a double take. I couldn’t believe it. So I walked over to the display and, lo and behold, I saw another pair of socks that I own! For a brief moment I thought my freaking sock collection was on display at this art gallery! then I came to my senses. I looked at the price of one of the socks. $30.00. The artist was selling about 10 or more pairs of handknit socks in the gallery and, apparently, she or he used the same Knitpicks yarn that I have used.
I don’t know. There is a part of me that feels this is wrong. Maybe it’s because I didn’t think of it first. But I don’t know if handknitted socks are so “cutting edge” that they constitute being sold in an art gallery. Now, maybe if they were hanpainted and handspun and the pattern was totally and completely like nothing I’ve ever seen before, then I could see the justification. But just plain old regular hand knit socks?

Have you heard of NaBloPoMo? I found out about it over at Amanda’s place. I have decided that, over at my other blog, Blatherskite, I am going to post at least once day for the month of November. It’s been 4 days and I feel like I’m on a roll! I’ve missed blogging. It’s therapeautic, if anything. I’m sure most people don’t give a rat’s ass about what I have to say, but oh well
. I like doing it.
So, since I will be needed the blog fodder over at Blatherskite, I think I’m going to take this opportunity to move the Blacksheep party over there. I’ve talked about this before, but I think now is a good time to go for it. Will you follow me over? I hope so! I would totally miss you if you didn’t. I feel like I have made some friends over here on this little blog and I would be very sad if I didn’t hear from you again because of this decision. I know some of you already read Blatherskite so it won’t be that big of a jump.
If you haven’t read Blatherskite before you should know that It is a little bit free-form over there. It’s a mish-mash of all kinds of things that pop into my head. Some of it can turn a bit political and I lean to the left a bit. Just thought you might like to know that in case political stuff offends you. I am going to try and figure out how to allow readers to subscribe to categories so that those who don’t care to read my rants can just subscribe to the knitting content.
With that, I will let you know that my first knitting post is up at Blatherskite. Enjoy!
Update: I’m going to have to close comments on this post. I’m getting hit with comment spam. Hope to see you over there!
