Coachella

August 1st, 2007

Coachella FrontOkay. Here they are. Coachella pics.
Pattern: Coachella from Knitty Summer 2007.
Yarn: Cotton-Ease in the discontinued Blueberry colorway. I think I used about 2 skeins.
Needles: Size 8. Addis.
Started: July 22nd 2007
Finished: July 25st 2007.

This was an awesomely fast knit. Just what I needed! I was getting tired of knitting lace. It’s knitted from the top down. The construction is very interesting. I like some parts of it.

Coachella BackLike the racer-back. I’m not so sure about the floppy front, though. I can’t bend over with this top. Ever. Because you can see EVERYTHING. sigh.

I’m not going to rip, though. I need to figure how how to tack it down. Maybe thread elastic through the neckline? Anybody have any ideas? Or I could just wear a tank underneath it. I do like it. I just don’t want to flash everyone if I wear it.

I don’t know, could you use some of that double sided tape (boob tape!) that the high fashion celebs use to keep their gowns in place? I just read about it somewhere online…

I like the color you chose for this, and I was surprised about your yarn choice (I imagined a slinkier or drapier yarn), but it definitely works for a summer top. Yay! And I have to ask… do you have a bra that works with Coachella? That’s always on the top of my list, hee hee.

    Cool tattoo!

It is such a great construction - and so simple. I really like the way it looks on you! I saw someone else wearing a camisole underneath to help with the whole issue, and it seemed to work pretty well. Maybe Karma’s suggestion would work? ;)

Love the CE. I have a pullover in the same color - the Candy Blue!

Oh, I think it’s just smashing! And I vote for a tank with a lace edge… you know, for modesty but still giving a little something. ;-)

My sister really liked this tank, but I wasn’t sold on it. But I love yours! It sucks about the boob thing…what about a racerback sports bra or something? That way you have coverage and support and won’t have to worry about flashing the world. Have you tried it over a tee shirt or another tank?

Great job, beautiful color on you…and great tattoo!

Here is an idea for the front. I would knit a rectangular swatch out of the same or even contrasting yarn and tack it to the inside of the “v”. Basically making a fake tank inside the front of the neckline. You did a great job! Congratulations on another finished wip.

Tank looks great - too bad about the whole bending over thing. A tank underneath might detract from the, uh, appeal the top is supposed to create. Where would one buy boob tape? :)

These pics are great Moni! Hmmm I wonder if you could thread some sort of drawstring around the front. Like if you added an edge with YO holes to thread an i-cord through and tie in the front. I don’t know how it would look, but it does look really pretty without a tank showing underneath.

    wowie moni…fantastique!

I like the faux tank idea… that probably would work…just a little coverage for the boobelehs.
