What I’m working on
June 21st, 2007
Hi! I wanted to pop in to show you what I’ve been working on this week. It’s a shawl from the book, Victorian Lace Today and it’s official title is, “Shoulder Shawl in Syrian Pattern” (page 130 if you have the book. But, then you probably already know what shawl I’m refering to). I’m using KnitPicks Shimmer in the Stained Glass colorway. I originally bought this to knit something for my mom but that didn’t work out. So far I’m really loving it. So easy to knit. Again, I don’t want to poke my eyes out, so that’s good. I’ve even got the pattern memorized! yay me! I’m going back and forth with the yarn, though. I am anal retentive about colors pooling. It seriously bothers me when I’m knitting something up. And I don’t know if I’m so hip on Knitpicks hand painted yarns. i hated the Morning Glory yarn I bought and everything I have made with it has turned out hideously ugly, in my opinion. But this shawl isn’t so bad, the more I look at it. It’s not horrible. I’ll probably wear it when I’m done (if I can find something to go with those colors).
About my last post, I kind of chuckled at the comments about how I said it took forever to knit the socks when it only took two weeks. Your right, two weeks really is nothing. I kind of thought about it and (I hate to say this) but I don’t know if I really like knitting socks. I know! It’s crazy! But every time I knit socks I feel kind of like it’s taking me forever to get the damn things done so I can get on with something else. I don’t know. I do love wearing hand knit socks so I don’t think will stop knitting them anytime soon.

The pooling is actually interesting. The colors are very pretty!

Oh my gosh! I LOVE the way the colors pooled.
Oh, and socks… have you tried knitting the two at the same time? I do the 2 circs but I also have 2 sets of most of my DPNs. It sort of keeps my boredom away.

The color pattern against that knitting pattern is a very pretty combo
