I didn’t show you these

March 3rd, 2007

I finished spinning that blue and copper roving a few weeks back and this is what it looks like:

all in a row

It still looks kind of like newbie yarn, but I’m getting better I think. My spinning goes in spurts. I’m really into it for a few weeks and want to do nothing else and then I get distracted with something else for awhile. So my learning curve on this is going slow. But that’s okay. That’s why I like it. It’s all about the process. I have no idea what i’m going to do with it. I don’t even know how many yards I have because I haven’t figured out how to determine yardage with handspun yarn. Maybe it will be some sort of scarf or something.

I also finished another Tuscan Sun quilt block the other day:

sisters-choice

This one is called Sister’s Choice. I machine pieced it.

Sewing on the skirt is still stalled. I need a sewing maching that does more than sew straight lines. I’m super broke at the moment so I think my purchase will have to wait a bit.

That’s all the energy I have for you at the moment. I’m sick as a dog today. I stayed home from work with some bronchial-coughy sickness and have no energy. ugh.

Have a great weekend!

Nice yarn! A scarf would be so great…no matter how much you have it will look perfect!

I hope you feel better. The quilt block looks great and so does the yarn. Very pretty.

That handspun is lovely, Moni! I love the colors (no surprise there!) and the quilt looks great too. I hope to do some quilting this year for PS…

the handspun is beautiful! I just got a wheel and have been intimidated to try it (I’m such a moron - lol)…I’m taking a sewing class next week - have had a machine that I’ve never really learned how to use and seeing the quilt blocks inspired me to learn!

That quilt block is delightful. I especially love the colors you’ve selected. Spinning is on my list of things that I must do some day. It seems like one of those skills that I just want to enjoy the process of rather than be great at. Have you noticed that some knitting is that way too? Sometimes you just need that simple project in hand just to feel the process of knitting and it doesn’t really matter if it comes out a bit wonky.

Looks like you’ve got some great projects going… guess who unsubscribed a while back because she thought you were doing all of your blogging at blatherskite? Oops. I like that blog, too, but missed all of your recent posts here. :)

I can’t wait to see Sunrise Circle when it’s done. That pattern really catches my eye.
