While Loll is Blocking

January 31st, 2007

Pomatomus. Flash.Almost as soon as I laid Loll down to block, I wound up my one hank of Socks that Rock in my stash and cast on for Pomatomus. I decided that my next project was going to be socks with STR. Why? Because after reading this post at January One, I have realized that, clearly, I must be nuts for not knitting this up as soon as I bought it. I was originally going to knit the Monkey pattern in the current issue of Knitty. But after I read this:

The finished socks are reminiscent of blue-green fish scales hence the name Pomatomus, the genus of the blue fish.

I knew that the silvery-blue STR needed to be Pomatomus socks. And it does look nice in this pattern, don’t you think?

Thanks for all of your nice comments on Loll! i’m really excited about actually getting a sweater done. And this turned out really good for a change.

The pomatomus looks awesome so far! Just a warning: this pattern really sucks up the yarn, so you may want to do fewer repeats on the leg if you’re using STR.

The sock looks fabulous. The pattern does suck up the yarn, but it’s also very, very stretchy so you may be able to leave out a pattern repeat.
