What I did this weekend. A blog post in (mostly) pictures.

August 7th, 2006

I knitted on these:

Knee high

Knee-highs from the book, Knitting Vintage socks. I’ve just turned the heel.

I also went to an art festival in Coeur D’Alene. Art on the Green. I bought these:

wood buttons

Made from an artist in ID. They will go on some yet-to-be-determined cardi that I will knit. How fucking cool is that? Some handmade cedar buttons, made by a local artist will go on a sweater that I will make with my very own hands. I love that.

Speaking of cool, I also saw this:

bike sweater

The piece is called “Bike Sweater.” I feel bad because I didn’t write down the name of the artist. Yarn was even hand-spun!

I also saw this:

Castle made of sand

WOW!

And finally, today I made a friend at the park:

gull friend

He came and hung out with me while I knitted. At first I thought he was looking for food but there were (really obnoxious) people all around me feeding the birds and this little guy just hung out close by.

I snapped this before I helped save a dog’s life! Seriously. A dog got stuck in the duck pond and almost drowned right after this was taken. I will probably write about it over on Blatherskite if I can ever get around to it.

Happy Monday!

I saw your pics on Flickr, and I just adored that sand castle. Amazing! I love the cedar buttons too - those will be a perfect addition to a cardigan!

Love the socks you are working on!

Isn’t Coeur D’Alene cool? I wish I had the wherewithall to actually go there once in a while. The socks look great, by the way. And a knitted bicycle? that’s awesome!

Great buttons - I got some elk antler ones once and put them on a traditional little Scandinavian cardigan for my DS. I love handcrafted buttons!

And we think what we make with the kids down the beach is a sand castle. Hah.
Sounds like a great day out, and the little seagull
(?) story is very very cute.

Wow. That bike is unbelievable. Sometimes I think, when I knit something, that I’m SO creative and then I see stuff like that. Thanks for sharing!

Oh! Those buttons! Could you email me the address so I can get some? I was in C d’A last year, working on a cashmere cardigan for my husband…which is all but done, except for the buttons. These are so perfect, because they will always remind me of our trip (we went from central CA, thru OR, to C’ d’A, Utah, AZ, NM, TX, LA, AL and Florida and then back again. We did LA, TX and NM in ONE DAY so we could spend some time with my FIL).
    Thanks,
    Chloe
