Diamond Blossom Scarf
I finished my Scarf today! I’m getting in there right at the end of the Purple Month.
Pattern: Diamond Blossom Scarf from the book Modular Knits by Iris Schreier
Yarn: Artyarns Silk Ribbon in colorway 108. 2 hanks. And Artyarns Silk Fur in colorway 108. Not ever half a hank.
Needles: Denise size 8.

First of all, I am very happy that I took the advice of the person who sold me this yarn at Commuknity (in San Jose, CA). She said that this yarn would behave better if it was wound into balls, and not the pull-center kind. She suggested that I wind them into balls and then keep them in plastic baggies. Which I did and I am very glad because this yarn tangles quite a lot. And it will snag on every little tiny thing, too. If my hands were the tiniest bit dry while knitting this any little bit of dry skin would snag on it.
Also, there is a serious error in the pattern. I found out when I got about three repeats in and wondered why my scarf looked like crap. So I thought, “Hmm..I wonder if there is an error in the pattern?” And sure enough there is. In fact, the two patterns that I have knit so far from this book have had errors, and looking at the errata page, it looks like almost all of the patterns have errors. Here is the particular one for this pattern:
Replace “Repeat rows 6 and 7, then row 6 once more” with “Continue to repeat rows 6 and 7 and end with row 6 when you have 8 unworked stitches on the other side of marker 2.”
It will make a world of difference if you follow the correct directions!
With that said, I really like the way it turned out. It’s very pretty and girly and super soft. I’m not really a fur yarn kind of gal, but silk fur? sure, why not. It will be kind of a fun scarf to wear.
Yesterday I realized that I hadn’t done my purple kool-aid dyed yarn yet this month! so I did:
I did something a bit different this time. I painted it on. It was less messy and I used less Kool-aid. I like the muted way it turned out. Much different from the fruity colors of the other Project Spectrum dyes I’ve done.
Well, that’s it for now. Happy Monday!
