Obsession
June 28th, 2006
I finished the back of Loll and am now working on the left front. I have noticed that I am not doing the waist shaping correctly and it’s irritating the hell out of me. In the picture the ribbing all comes together at the waist shaping. You can see how it’s supposed to go here at High Energy Knits. I knitted the waist shaping the way I interpreted the pattern. And it’s wrong. I thought about frogging and re-knitting. At least the left front panel. But fuck it. I’m so not in the mood to do that. Let’s just chalk it up to bad-reading-of-directions and leave it at that. I will try to be more careful next time.
So the Lotus Blossom Tank. . . Right after I finished my last post on that the mailman came and delivered my two balls of Bamboo Yarn. It seriously came to my front door in a flash! Kpixie rocks! The new yarn is actually a bit different from the old yarn. It most definately is the same brand and colorway. But the new yarn is much softer and the colors are brighter. I decided to start over and knit the tank using both balls of yarn, alternating each row. I got through two repeats and took a good look at it. I’m not so sure I like the way the colors together are knitting up. I really don’t want to start over AGAIN. So I am putting this aside for a bit to decide what to do. I may change my mind about it.
And finally I’m totally obsessing over this book. Knitted Babes. The copy in the picture I linked to is the library’s copy. Everytime I see it I check it out and fawn over the cute dolls. I even had dreams about them last night. I think I need to make one of these.

Darn those Brits. It’s totally their fault. They’re just as bad as the German pattern makers. ; )
I”m kinda diggin’ the colors of the tank. But you have to live with it, so if you don’t like it, frog it. At least you’ve only done two rows.
I think you should make a doll. Poppy needs friends.

I am so in love with Loll- I can’t wait to see it done up. The Lotus Blossom looks great too- one of my friends made one, although she is ripping back to make it a tad longer, so maybe you’ll want to do the same.

i say if you’re not happy with blossom now, just rip it out. but setting it aside for a few days doesn’t hurt either - especially if you change your mind like i do all the time!
the knitted babes book is so cute! i’ve been eyeing it up for awhile - i really need to get that book!

Just discovered your blog. I spent a couple of years in Spokane, where I had taken up knitting again. Also checked out your blog about nothing and I enjoyed the beautiful pictures of some of my favorite spots. Thanks for sharing it all. Those knitted babes are also on my list of things to knit… should have run into u when I was in Spokane
All the best from Geneva, Switzerland

Cute, cute dolls. Sorry to hear about Lotus Blossom. I have to admit I wouldn’t want to rip a second time and start over a third. Loll is looking good even if it’s not quite what the designer envisioned.
