Blue Fringe
June 19th, 2006
Sachi requested a closeup of the fringe. There you go, Sachi! It looks kind of alien-like, don’t you think? But you can see how it would take forever to knit. Every two knits you have to fringe which takes 6 stithces. So you are knitting a hella lot of stitches when all is said and done. Right now I’m working on the arm-hole shaping. I got kind of sidetracked.
After seeing Jennifer’s beautiful Lotus Blossom tank I decided I had to have one too. Isn’t hers pretty? I looked at the pattern and noticed that it called for Southwest Trading Company’s Bamboo yarn. Hmm. That got me thinking a bit. The yarn that I knitted this little bag in was, indeed, bamboo. And it looks awfully similar to this color. I had quite a bit of that ball left over so I decided to “experiment” and cast on. I had to frog at one point because I screwed up the pattern, but the second time around I feel the zen of the pattern and it’s knitting up without a hitch. I went ahead and threw caution to the wind and ordered two balls of the SWTC yarn in the color Parrot, which I think is the same color. I know that the dye lot will be different, and, hell, it might not even be the same yarn. But I don’t care. I ordered two balls so that should be enough start over and knit the small if need be. I’m definately NOT in any way shape or form a size small, but thought that I would try the negative ease thing. It looks rather roomy on the model. We’ll see. Here’s a close-up of the lace pattern. I don’t know. maybe I just need to knit lace right now.

Definitely go for the negative ease. I’m glad you liked mine though. Thanks! Also: unless your very blessed in the breast department you might think about doing a couple of decreasing rows before you bind off at the bust line or possibly some kind of shaping around the bust area? All I know is that mine is a boob flash waiting to happen.

That’s neat. They’re like mini i-cords! I admire your patience.
