Jaywalking along
April 11th, 2006
This is what I’ve been knitting all week with that orange Claudia’s Handpainted. Jaywalker socks! I can’t believe, after a week, I’m still not done with them. I’m a slow sock knitter! Oh well. Definately done in the next few days. Love the pattern. Love the color! Two great tastes that go great together. Doncha think?
Another Project Spectrummy thing I did yesterday was dye some yarn! I am going for yellow and orange. Hmmmm. Not so much. I only bought one packet of each color and totally ran out of Kool-aid. Obviously. So I think I will buy some more and try adding to it. I hope you can do that…Plus, I would like it to be a bit more saturated.
I wanted to show you something that my friend, Kathryn (Hi Kathryn!) sent me yesterday. It’s a tree sweater:
Erika from RedShirt Knitting knitted up a sweater for a sorry little tree in front of her house in Seattle, and then has documented the reaction to it over the weeks. It even made the cover of a local alternative newspaper! What an awesome idea! I would love to do that here in Spokane. I don’t think people would understand, though.
Guess what has been keeping me away from knitting the past week or so? House hunting. Yes, I’ve been house hunting. It’s quite the adventure! It’s unbelievable how quickly housing prices have risen in this town in the last year. But that’s a rant for the other blog
. I think we may have found one so keep your fingers or (As Christie said) your knitting needles crossed for me! Will update you on the progress.

Hey. Congratulations on the house hunting! And congratulations on finding the house. We had a heck of a time finding a house when we went looking in fall of 2003. The first two (or maybe three) houses we bid on already had bids on them. We bid on our house an hour after it went on the market. And we bid full price. And we paid some of our seller’s closing costs! But home ownership is a wonderful thing. Except having to pay the plumber. That part sucks.

House hunting, how fun! haha! Seriously, enjoy it and the right house will find you.
I do love your Jaywalkers. I haven’t done any orange knitting at all. Maybe I’ll go make some socks, too.

Hey Moni dear! So fun to come over here and check in with you! Love seeing the socks in that lovely yarn. I saw some at my LYS and was very intrigued - but I passed it up. Seeing these makes me think about all of that Handpaint again!
Love the little tree sweater. What a concept! Is it knit flat and then stitched on to fit the tree?
Best wishes in the house hunting!!
Love,
Lolly
