Another one?!?

clapper #3Yes, that is, indeed, what you are seeing. I’m knitting another f**king clapotis. This is how it all went down. All of the projects that I have been working either require some work that needs to be done when I’m by myself ( For example, the sleeve of my lucky clover needs to be frogged an re-knit since Melissa just posted the corrections to the pattern) or other knitting (like the recycled silk afghan) was stuck in the corner of my living room and couldn’t be gotten to because my mom and step-dad were sleeping in there and I didn’t want to wake them up by climbing all over them. Also, I recieved my knitpicks yarn in the mail on Friday and was really excited by how beautiful the colors were. So excited that I woke up early on Saturday thinking about swatching it. So that is, indeed, what I did. I casted on for Clappy and just didn’t stop knitting it all weekend. So now I’m pretty well into Clappy and don’t really want to stop. It’s weird how obsesive I get when I knit this pattern.

I’m still trying to decide if I like the way the colors are knitting up. there’s a lot of flashing and pooling going on. The colorway is very dramitic, too. I’m thinking that I like it.

On Saturday my Mom and I went to my SIL’s baby shower at my MIL’s house. We had a lovely time. It was quite the production! She had three courses, the first was cookies and scones with devonshire cream, the second was chicken crepes and some yummy salad, and the third was desert. It was a four hour baby shower! A little bit long, but very nice, nonetheless. My SIL loved the gifts I knitted up for her. Actually, here is the reaction I got when she opened up the hoodie:

Heehee! that made me feel good. It’s so nice to get that kind of reaction when you put work and love into something that you knit.

artfibersI made it to Artfibers on Sunday! And they still had my yarn! Yay! I actually had a NIGHTMARE on Saturday night that I went there and they didn’t have my yarn! I think I’m going a little nuts with this knitting/yarn addiction thing. They had a lovely scarf displayed knitted with Phyz, that my mom liked, so I bought two skiens of that to knit her up the scarf.

Well, that’s all for now. I’m pretty much exhausted by this past weekend. I had a wonderful time, though!

Finished

chevronThe final touches have been put on my Chevron Rib Tank! I couldn’t wait to try it on. So here is a “wonderful” shot of me wearing it in the bathroom mirror. This is pre-blocked. It so needs blocking, so I will do that and get and official picture of both the front and back up for you when it is finished blocking.

I really like it! It’s big, though. Made the medium, which is supposed to be for those with a 37 1/2 inch bust. I’m a 36, so I kind of knew going in that it might be a bit big. Also, I have a really long waist, so it seems a little bit cropped in the back. Maybe it’s supposed to be like that, though. Regardless, I kind of like the effect.

The yarn label says to wash in washing machine on gentle and then put in the dryer in low until damp, then block until dry. So I guess I will do that. But I am kind of leary about putting my knits in the washing machine. But, hell, if I can get away with that why not?

My mom and stepdad are on thier way here from Spokane! They are spending the weekend here. I’m so excited, but I need to get my ass going on cleaning my house. Have a great weekened, everyone!

oops, I did it again…

calmerThey all just jumped off the shelf and into my bag…really. My credit card? Oh my..It just, sort of, fell out of my wallet. shame. well, since they have SOMEHOW made thier way to the cash register…

Yeah, Judy and I, between the two of us, pretty much decimated the Rowan shelves at Communknity at lunch today. sigh.

Oh, and while I’m here, I might as well show you my progress on the Chevron tank:

I’m just at the arm shaping, so she’s almost done. Yay! I am loving this yarn sooo much. I have pretty much convinced myself that I will use it to make “A good bias” from IK spring 2005. But I don’t know…I might need to lay off of the crack - I mean, yarn buying for awhile ;) .

Guess who went to CommuKnity at lunch today!

manosJudy and I were yahoo messaging each other a bit before lunch, chatting about knitting, of course! She mentioned that she went to Commuknitty at lunch yesterday (she works Sundays) and bought a bunch of yarn and a couple of Rowan books, the Cotton Tape Collection, and Vintage Style. So we chatted about how much we love Rowan patterns, and how much we love Rowan yarns, and the Communknitty has a huge amount of Rowan yarns, etc. Eventually we talked ourselves into going there over lunch. I tell you, I was soooo close to buying enought Calmer to make Loll (the cardi version). So Close! I went there with the intention of buying the yarn to make it. My reasoning?

  1. If I buy it at the yarn store I can hide my purchase from my husband better.
  2. I am about to put almost $1,000.00 on my credit card today, anyway (my car is in the shop as I type this), so what’s another hundred dollars?
  3. I need to support my local yarn store

But I restrained myself. Well, not quite. I couldn’t go into the yarn store and NOT buy yarn. So I bought the two hanks of Manos that you see in the picture. It’s in the lovely colorway 114. I’ll make a nice, cozy scarf with it in autumn.

I better post a progress pic.

05 22 chevron ribBecause this baby’s going fast! The cotton was calling to me, so I started on my Chevron Rib Tank. Here’s the back. I am loving this stitch pattern! And this Blue Sky Cotton? It’s abso-friggen-lutely divine! I am so glad I am using it for this project! sooo soft. My progress on it will probably slow down because tommorrow’s Monday and you know how the ‘ole job gets in the way of the knitting. Damn job.

Lucky Clover SleeveI’ve also been working a little bit on Lucky Clover. She’s not being neglected. Knitting this is hurting my fingers, though. Seriously, Friday night, after knitting it for a little while, I had a sharp, shooting pain in my pinky and it felt numb. I think I’m knitting a little bit too tightly or something. I need to chill out, I guess. That’s why I picked up the Chevron Tank. The color of the yarn is so soothing, not to mention the softness of the cotton.

Gotta jet. Need to make dinner. Later.
