No pics but thought I’d check in
January 6th, 2005
I haven’t posted for a few days so I thought I’d check in here. I am currently working on Shedir from Knitty’s Fall suprise for my friend who has luekemia. I just now found out that she lost all of her hair. It’s like it all came out at once, too. I talked to a few people who just saw her this morning and they said that she looked great. Then another co-worker came to my office and told me to knit up that hat because she just lost her hair! Ugh! I feel so bad for her! She is a very “hair oriented’ kind of person, too (If that makes sense). She loves to color it and get it styled and stuff. So I am going to knit my little fingers off this weekend to get that hat done for her, and probably start on another one so she will have a couple. Aside from this, she seems to be doing well. The chemo is putting her through hell, of course. But the prognosis is looking good. She just has to go through this horrible chemo ordeal.
As I began the pattern I realized that I have never knitted cables before, and I’ve never followed a chart before. So this is a little bit slow going. But I’m doing okay with it. It’s a good challenge!
The yarn is awesome! It’s a bright pink (which is her favorite color) and it is so soft (Debbile Bliss cotton-angora). I would like to work with it more in the future.
I also started on another scarf with the new skien of LaBoheme yarn I bought on Monday. This colorway has lots of blues and purples. Very pretty.
Oh, and I should also say that, after reading Almost Felted’s Lauren’s post where she mentioned that she joined knit 1 read 2, I went and joined, too! So I look forward to meeting all of you from the book club and discussing the books with you! If you haven’t visited Black Sheep before, welcome! I’ve started reading the book for this month: Phillip Roth’s The plot against America, and it is excellent so far.
I’ll post pics this weekend. Hope you all are having a wonderful week!
