Jess dreams

August 30th, 2004

I am obsessed with projects that I want to do, but can barely afford! I’ve been surfing around today looking for some good, basic, classic-looking cardigan patterns. I found this one that I like:

It is from Rowan 31, and it’s called Jess. It’s exactly what I am looking for, not too trendy, but also kind of casual. It’s knitted with Rowan Denim yarn, and they have it in ecru. Perfect! Except that it would cost a fortune to make. It takes 17 balls for a medium. I will definately need to save my money up for this.

Well, I need to go work on Tank Girl! Hopefull the pieces for her will be done tonight.

Try Elann. They have Den-M-Nit yarn on cones cheap. I read somewhere (no clue where - it was at least a month ago) that it’s similar-to-identical to the Rowan yarn. I personally have a cone of the dark indigo to make a pullover.

(Hope that html code works, if not, just go to elann.com and look for Den-m-Nit yarn.)

    COMMENT:
The cardi looks great but somehow I reckon it would look even better if you could fit into the hot pants aswell!! stupid models!

Sarah, Thank you Thank you! It does look like exactly the same thing. I think I will go with that. What a bargain!

Katherine, LOL! I sooooo wish I could fit into the hotpants. Oh well.

I used the rowan denim (nashville) and it’s made to shrink and is rather like twine. I knitted Tasha bag from summer 2002 knitty. Keep your eyes peeled for ebay bargains.

[…] So here is what I’ve been working on all week. Jess! It is a long cardigan made with denim yarn and published by Rowan. It was originally published in Rowan Magazine 31 but I was able to download the pattern from Rowan’s website. This pattern is the reason I bought a freaking cone of denim yarn in the first place. I kind of forgot about it until a couple of weeks ago when I was going through my knitting patterns. I bought the pattern, god, about 4 years ago? A long time ago. I’ve blogged about it before, on Blacksheep (looking at that post, it was almost exactly 4 years ago! how time flies). Well, 4 years later I still really like the pattern so I decided to cast on. So far so good. Almost finished with the back. Wait till you see how long it is! It’s scary long. But I’ll talk about that in my next Crafty Monday post. […]
